Finally. I just got hired at Perkins Coie, one of the biggest law firms (600+ lawyers?) based in the NW (they have offices all over the country). I'll be part of the training team, training lawyers in software. It's been a long 3 years of working part time jobs. OK. I start Monday. Things may be looking up a little in the being able to pay the rent department.

Thanks! Anything would have done right now, but this kind of work I'll actually like doing I think. It starts out kind of on the help desk but in a month or so will escalate as the training cycle kicks in.

Thanks! It's 9 to 6 and on Third and University. So, if my apartment building gets sold (the inspector came yesterday) I'm thinking of moving back around the hill area and just walking downtown to work! Lot's of things seem to be changing now. And I'm hardly even afraid!

Is she at Perkins? I already met the manager of the training group, who is someone I know from Digital Eve (used to be Webgrrls). Also, I've already made lunch dates with other friends of mine working downtown.

She's worked at Perkins for years: she's one of their word processing people. The one time I was in the offices I remember her as being a nice little office/cubbyhole against the wall opposite the window. It's been awhile, though, so you'd best ask where she is from someone who knows...

Thanks. I think it will be good. I knew the person interviewing me. It's still through the temp agency for the first 5 months, then go to permanent, but at least I'll be able to pay off some bills and get ahead a little. Yay!

Hmm. I worked on one project writing (computer) training materials for lawyers, and the worst part was when they don't understand why they need to know anything about how to use computers -- especially the older lawyers. That's why they have secretaries, innit?

Many didn't understand why the training takes so much time (e.g., more than an hour to learn email, WordPerfect, and two other tools). However, that's a problem with any group of busy users, and lots of people (lawyers among them) catch on once you explain it to them.

Please keep us posted on how it goes.
